Welcome to North Island Colgate Games 2013. 

All that you need to know will be right here, updates on whats happending leading up to the games and all the information on the 2013 Colgate Games.

After success in 2008, North Island Colgate Games returns to Taranaki.

The largest children’s athletic meet will be held at the T.E.T stadium on 4-6 January 2013. The three day competition caters from a range of events.

tasuch as 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, walk, long and high jump, shot put and discus. Can’t run, walk. The games have an event for almost everyone.

To enter Colgate Games you will have to be aged from 7-14 years old and registered to any athletics club in New Zealand.  Find an athletic club near you. http://www.athletics.org.nz/Article.aspx?ID=2624

Seven to nine years receive first, second and third placing pennants, but all competitors receive a ribbon for their efforts.

Athletes from 10 to 14 years compete in heats, semi-finals and finals for the top three placing’s with medals are given to the winners.

Colgate Games is an annual event held in both north and south islands, moving around the different towns in an eight year cycle.

In December 2011 Taranaki Children’s Athletics were offered the hosting rights to 2013 North Island Colgate Games after Northland were unable to host the games.

While in the south island, Invercargill were given the rights to host South Island Colgate Games 2013 after Canterbury were unable to host due to the earthquake.

When given the chance to host the games, Taranaki Children Athletics was keen to take on the challenge.

Merv Watt, Chairman of Taranaki Children’s Athletics says “Taranaki Children’s committee were keen on taking Colgate Games on after successful 12 and 13 Interprovincials.”

Taranaki children’s have a strong committee of 12, who have all been given responsibilities.
